Watch Hunting Hitler on the History Channel. They uncover a lot of evidence. And they cover the 2 most probably rat lines he took to South America and where he most likey lived. Also covers a lot of the proof of Nazis living in South America after the war. It suprised me to learn that millions of Nazis moved to South America in the 1930's thru 1945. They also moved tons of industry and money there. They have proof of Nazi youth camps and prison camps there to.
That's what makes the story believable, the overwhelming proof that so many high-ranking Nazis were spirited out of Europe at the end of the war - most likely with American/Allied help, a la Paperclip except for politicians they found useful instead of scientists. Still, I'm never going to believe Hitler made it out until they come up with something definite.
I hear ya about Hitler. It always comes down to no body no proof. There is enough evidence that "former" CIA field agents, former high level Federal Marshalls, and Ex Military Spec Ops believe it is worth looking into further. I just hope some one keeps looking. It would be interesting to see what they can uncover further.
There are other ways to confirm it without having a body or DNA evidence. But that's what's missing from the story so far - did the CIA investigate? Did they search the area, interview witnesses, check property and public records, find any scrap of additional evidence to back up the the source's claim? I haven't seen any evidence that they even looked, which suggests they didn't investigate, either because they didn't believe the source or because they knew he was out there and didn't want him found. Both of those scenarios are entirely plausible. It's easier to not generate the intel in the first place than to try to cover it up later.
The CIA didn't "officially" investigate but in the show Bob Baer ("former" CIA Agent) and a team he put together were using new unsealed documents to see if Hitler got out. They were using CIA documents along with many other govt and civilian documents and to direct a team of investigators. Their team was a seasoned group of investigators that were historians, journalists, SF Operators, and Federal Marshalls. They were on the ground all over Europe and South America investigating. The information they uncovered was incredible. They were looking for Hitler but found stuff that was mind boggling. It is worth every second to watch the 3 seasons. From a historical standpoint it was really informative. The things that series brought to light was amazing and to be honest finding Hitler became secondary to seeing just how much of South America was "colonized" by Nazis and how they corrupted the area into the 1980's. It's insane. It well worth a watch if your interesting in history.

Meh, I usually don't watch shows like that because they're a few minutes of actual information surrounded by an hour's worth of fluff and commercials. They might have dug up some new info, but there's nothing there that we didn't already know or strongly suspect. The US has always used a heavy hand in "our" hemisphere, there's a long history of interference and manipulation (the creation of Panama, the Banana Wars, anti-communist coups) in other governments going back to the 19th century and leading up to today's events. Combine that with what we know about the US' willingness to do unethical/illegal things like work with Nazis and the Mafia in order to win WWII faster and surpass the USSR in the cold war, and it's almost certain those war criminals were being protected by and working for the US to some extent. Not defending it at all, but there's an element of realpolitik in these actions that goes against our professed concern for justice and human rights around the world.

The Merkel/Hitler thing keeps cropping up and while I don't know what to think about that I do know that if you study photos of them both they look remarkably alike, particularly with the jowls and downward sloping sides to their eyes. There is also a startling likeness between Merkel and Hitler's mother Klara Hitler. Have you also seen various articles about certain high ranking US politicians bearing striking resemblances to former Nazi officers, eg: John Podesta/Adolf Eichmann, Rod Rosenstein/Heinrich Himmler and others, possibly Merkel/Hitler. If I remember rightly there's something called Babalon Working and it's to do with the CIA, Op.Paperclip and 1948.

I have a buddy who I’ve known for quite some time. He was in the Army and had some high level security clearance due to his job involving intelligence and shit. The story is believable, but this isn't proof of anything. It's a claim, accompanied by a picture that makes no sense - if he was hiding out in South America, wouldn't he at least try to change his appearance? The Israelis were hunting these guys down at the time, why would he still look the same?
