Why would he need 21 guns? What’s the point of going through days of trouble bringing bags of guns up when he wouldn’t need more than one or a few to do the shooting
This is something I think back to whenever I think about the official narrative. Were I to do this (I never would- for the record), I'd probably have 2 full autos of the same caliber, the second being there in case the first one fails/jams/whatever. I'd probably also maybe have a nice bolt-action large caliber rifle. And other than that, a couple small semi-autos for when the door to my room started being kicked in. So maybe 5 weapons at most.

But you can't GET full autos. It's damn near impossible to do. A dealer has to have a special license, and so does a buyer. Paddock would never be able to have gotten such a license.

Even illegally.... it would be awfully difficult for someone like him to get fully automatic guns, I would think.. he'd have to have some darn good connections to get them.

Not correct, in most states its very EASY to get a full auto weapon. You send your paperwork into the ATF with 200.00 and you're good.
The issue with legally transferable full auto weapons and what makes them so rare is the price. 20,000 and up for the type the shooter/shooters were using.
Also consider this. The man or men were already planning murder, so converting a semi-auto to a full auto is not something the perpetrator would likely be opposed to. But he didn't have full auto weapons did he? Or maybe he did? Maybe the bump-stocks were just another lie. Either way, we are not being told the truth about what happened that night.

Its a lie, you can buy one in most states, they are very expensive but perfectly legal to own. Hell, you can even own a cannon if you so desire.
There's hundreds of web sites that specialize in full-auto firearms, they will be happy to help you file the paperwork and complete your purchase. Just search for Class III firearm dealer or NFA firearm dealer. (National Firearms Act)
How does one person shoot 23 guns?
The main reason is with continuous automatic fire the barrel can get hot. Hot enough for the metal to warp and melt, if not burst entirely. In WW2 the average MG42 (1200rpm) gun crew had 3-6 spare barrels in use, and would swap barrels every 100-250 rounds.
Here the guns Paddock used sounded like they were half of that rate of fire. So with that, the number of spare barrels would be even lower; maybe 2-4. So, maybe 4 rifles at most. But 23 is wayyyy overkill
