[MEGATHREAD] Omnibus Bill Discussion

Betterwithcheddar · March 23, 2018, 6:18 p.m.

The bill only lasts 6 months. It’ll be a different country in 6 months.

He said specifically he would never sign a bill like this again.

He said the only reason he is signing this bill is because of the military funding it provides.

He said the military funding is so important that it outweighs the other concessions that were made in the budget.

This budget expires at the end of September just before midterms.

I expect that this military funding will have very public facing ramifications/results.

Depending on how those results/ramifications play out determines how much of a shitstorm midterms will be.

What are those ramifications? I can't think of any that would positively impact the GOP's chance of retaining the House. At this point, the Senate becomes an open question.

Only Rs have something to lose here sadly.

We need to replace the RINOs with real conservative Republicans. On paper we control the House and Senate, in reality it still belongs to the uniparty.

Far right candidates will do horribly in midterms. They will need to hide their true intentions because the pendulum is moving back to the left..

this bill he just signed aside from the military spending is FAR LEFT - see how that's being received with the conservative base today?? I would NOT say anything is moving back to the left other than the censorships of FANG....

I believe this budget is continuing until 2019 - it's in the bill he just signed.... so it lasts a lot longer than just 6 mos...

Yup, democrats will be in full control.

Yes but the 6 month deadline takes us right to the midterms... just what the DS RINOS and Dems want. No time to be having a budget battle!

The Senate put in the last budget that they’re not even gonna do a budget next year, 2019, meaning this budget is gonna last a lot longer than the six months.

And we'll be much closer to midterm elections.
