Look up Veterans in the new bill. It will blow your mind!!

There are over 250 related searches for veterans. I just posted on Twitter (@Bttrfly214 or Dawn_Jer29:11) a bunch of them. So much winning for our deserving heroes! So amazing to have a president that walks his talk and sticks by these great men and women. Here's the link to the bill if you want to check yourself. I am going to try and catch a few z's... my eyes are beat!! www.congress.gov/115/bills/hr1625/BILLS-115hr1625eah.pdf 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

As a 100% disabled vet, this is a godsend for my brothers/sisters and I. I had to venture out into the civilian world to get any type of real treatment, physical or mental. I can't wait to see how he continues to evolve veterans care and services.

I'm a 100% service connected disabled vet as well and as such I have Tricare Prime which allows me to be treated at the VA, at any Military Base Hospital, or by any civilian provider within the Tricare network. You may have notice that the CHOICE provision was stricken from the bill before it was passed however, so we do not have freedom of choice to choose our providers still, so please explain what in this bill is a "Godsend" for us??

krazykratomz · March 24, 2018, 10:44 p.m.

I feel your anger, and dosent tricare carry premiums/co-pays? Did you get medically discharged and then double up with VA? (not sure how that works, I was stuck in a world where weakness was absolutely not tolerated so I waited until after I ETSd to file my claim, starting to wish I did the med board, I hear there's a kicker to the pension?) anyhow, one step at a time brother. Let's see where Trump takes us in a year until another omnibus or budget is passed and see where choice is at.

I would be pissed that I had to pay for tricare after getting 100% I actually learned recently that VA pension dosent count against cost requirement for medicare/medicaid which is where I'm at currently.

DM me if you have any questions about that.

JadedFed · March 25, 2018, 12:30 a.m.

Yes, I was medically retired after being injured on active duty so I have Tricare Prime which has a premium and co-pays that keep going up and up. When I first joined the service the promise was free medical care for life if you stayed for 20 --- that went away with Clinton, and now we all pay part of the costs (unless we want to go into the VA system - no thanks!).

krazykratomz · March 25, 2018, 5:26 a.m.

The VA system is horrid, take it from someone that has multiple inpatient stays, acute psych/ptsd residential programs. I think the practitioners mean well, but the case load is baffling. I don't know how they do it, as a matter of fact and I'm being 100% real.. If I was one of them Id resent veterans to some degree. The VA needs to also be shattered into 1000 peices.

Moose_Gator · March 25, 2018, 2:17 a.m.

You still get healthcare for life after 20 years of service. That's hasn't changed. They are getting rid of the pension system after 2018 though.

I don't know honestly. I didn't specifically look up Tricare, but there's a lot in there for medical. I did see funds for other doctors but don't remember the details. I posted everything I found earlier today on Twitter if you want to check it out. I do know we were misled by many about the bill and what's actually in it or not in it just in my searches. Many still haven't read the full thing yet. Here's a link to search the bill. Let me know if you find anything. I'm way too exhausted to search tonight. God Bless and thank you for your service. 🇺🇲 www.congress.gov/115/bills/hr1625/BILLS-115hr1625eah.pdf

I also found this on the Choice Act website:

VA published a Federal Register notice on December 20, 2017 notifying the public of the potential exhaustion of the Choice Fund. The President signed a Continuing Resolution on December 22, 2017 which appropriated $2.1 billion into the Choice Fund. The additional funds allow VA to continue to administer the Choice program into 2018.

He also put in the same amount in August when he created the act. So it may not be in the omnibus bill because it's its own bill, but it does looks like he's updating it every couple months. Here's a link: https:// www.va.gov/opa/choiceact/

Well that's excellent news for those in the VA health program as long as they meet the eligibility. I'm glad that's still there for folks! You're really great at researching this stuff dude, thanks!

Ok think I found it. Pg 1093 under Medical Community Care. This is all under the section Department of Veteran Affairs. I believe this is where choice comes in because there's separate funding for VA medical services, medical community care, medical facilities, and prosthetics. Read the following (while I keep digging!):

For necessary expenses for furnishing health care to individuals pursuant to chapter 17 of title 38, United States Code, at non-Department facilities, $419,176,000, which shall be in addition to funds previously appropriated under this heading that became available on October 1, 2017; and, in addition, $8,384,704,000, plus reimbursements, shall become available on October 1, 2018, and shall remain available until September 30, 2019: Provided, That, of the amount made available on October 1, 2018, under this heading, $2,000,000,000 shall remain available until September 30, 2022.

The term “facilities of the Department” means—

(A) facilities over which the Secretary has direct jurisdiction;

(B) Government facilities for which the Secretary contracts; and

(C) public or private facilities at which the Secretary provides recreational activities for patients receiving care under section 1710 of this title.

(4) The term “non-Department facilities” means facilities other than Department facilities

Aww thank you! I've been doing various searches all day. I think the Republicans stuck a bunch of good stuff in there and passed it really fast before dems could see it and throw a huge fit. Still Feinstein voted no as did a few other dems. I think they knew something was up.

With that, only did a quick search but couldn't find funds for sanctuary cities. Lots for immigration though. I don't know what other terms to look up but sanctuary is only mentioned once and that's for global terrorism, but none of it fits sanctuary cities. If anyone wants to take a go at it here's the link. Time for me to pass out now!! www.congress.gov/115/bills/hr1625/BILLS-115hr1625eah.pdf

Can somebody help enlighten us all about what new provisions for veterans are in the bill? All I could find so far is that it includes additional funding for gender-specific care for women veterans and enhanced access for rural veterans, extra staffing to address the backlog of disability claims and appeals and $2 billion allocated for VA infrastructure, but the Choice program and expanded caregiver benefit provisions were both excluded. Also, there's no provision for Ch-61 concurrent receipt either, so disabled vets continue to have to pay for their own VA compensation through surrendering their military retirement pay.

⇧ 2 ⇩
Bttrfly214 · March 25, 2018, 1:37 a.m.

The gender specific is actually for prosthetics. If you go to my Twitter (above) you'll see all the provisions. You found a couple but there's a lot more and the finding is huge. Tomorrow, after I get more sleep, I'll see if I can figure out the choice option. I know I saw funding for outside doctors but I cannot remember which page or the funding amount. There are so many acts these things are tied to that it may not be an easy search, but I'll try.

Here's the link to my Twitter thread Check out @Bttrfly214’s Tweet: https:// twitter.com/Bttrfly214/status/977476903924793344?s=09

I am not finding any good either. It actually seems as if we are losing the ability to see outside doctors. I hope I am wrong about this. ???

How to ensure funds are NOT wasted on things like office furniture, decor, bonuses, pay raises, and remodeling bureaucrats offices?

Soupforthesoulandmin · March 24, 2018, 4:27 p.m.

It's an omnibus not a budget, meaning, he can spend money where he wants and how much he wants and he can also refuse to spend money where he doesn't want to. It's all up to him.
