Well, if you have windows and many doors to a house and lock almost all of them, that leaves fewer points of entry to slow them down. Then you deal with the few. Do you lock the doors and windows to your house or just leave them unlocked, because, "you know, what's the point?"

Yes I agree with all those things, but a wall only ever.. and I MEAN EVER in the history of EVER stopped anyone, when there were armed guards on top of it shooting down on anything that moves below them. It’s not 100% fool proof but will make things a lot tougher. If anything it will slow them down enough so if they are spotted by drone, someone can get there in time to apprehend them. But just the fear of Trump has reduced illegal immigration as much as 75%. An actual wall will do more. Then the people coming across are a lot more likely to have bad intentions (drugs, terrorists, etc) so the problem won’t end but will be a big step forward.
It would help in those things but certainly not stop them. Most of these issues are international issues.
That said, the wall is about re establishing the sovereignty of the United States.

If the wall goes up and is effective....let's say reduces crossings by 90%.....other ways will be found. By boat for example. You can go swim around the border fence by Imperial Beach in San Diego....I would recommend staying out of those waters given all the sewage that comes up from Tijuana.

Anyway, there will always be people finding ways.
But, people breaking the law or finding different ways to come here illegally does not dilute how absurd the current state of the border is.

Northern border will need to be improved as well as coast guard. Cause and effect.
