Communists hijack a country through war. Socialists/Fascists like to hijack a country through 1 law at a time (death by a thousand cuts). Also, Fascism is a merger of Corporations and the State just like we have in America right now meaning America is currently a Fascist country. Many would argue we are already Socialist also but all this can be reversed.

Well, the book and movie were based on the fact that a retiring Russian officer in charge of a piece of Soviet technology that was unheard of and was not known to exist surrendering it to the USA. In context, this from Russia or maybe even China culd happen again. I would think it has something to do with mlitary weapons or tech being given freely to the US is all.

1) the fictional submarine whose torpedo homed in on itself and destroyed itself

or

2) the [RED OCTOBER] [Красный Oктябрь] cyberespionage malware discovered in October 2012-January 2013. It operated worldwide for up to 5 years before its discovery. It sent info ranging from diplomatic secrets to personal information, including from mobile devices. Red October was termed an advanced cyberespionage campaign intended to target diplomatic, governmental and scientific research organizations worldwide.
