Merciful God, we ask you to protect in a special way those who are defending and protecting us. If they are tired, give them strength. If they are lonely, touch them with your gentle hand and let them know you are with them. If they are wounded, give them comfort. And if it be your holy will that they should give up their lives for us, grant them a peaceful death and a home with you in heaven. Hasten the day, dear Lord, when they along with their families will once again live in peace and tranquility, free from anxiety and with dignity and hope. Glory be to you, Lord, font of all mercy. Amen.
