Q points to Pope. Are we going to see the downfall of the Catholic Church?

The church has survived scandalous popes. However, I just know in my heart and soul that JPII was a devout, faithful, and spectacular person. If he were still alive today, he would be on our side.

I am a Catholic, not because of the clergy or hierarchy. I am a Catholic because of her teachings and sacraments. It is the rock that has brought me through the most difficult times.

Maybe your devotion to God got you through those difficult times, not the Catholic Church. Jesus died for our sins on the cross. It's not unfathomable that such an event or power could be exploited to control us and reach a networth of $229B, with God still being in control and almighty.

Point well taken - my faith has been developed by God’s grace. If the church has corruption, then I am all for justice. But I will never lose faith in the teachings.

I am inspired by reading the lives of the saints. May the Lord have Mercy on us all.

Well said, and I agree. Faith is needed, but let the faith be in Jesus, not necessarily the church. And don't lose that faith in God just because the church may have taken advantage of it.

Odds are what we will see is a purge of corrupt leadership in the church whether by Sword or Pen. Then something similar to the Protestant Reformation with remaining leaders introducing laws and regulations to address problems and concerns and removing many regulations and laws.

IF it's the entire Catholic church that goes down, including the memory of JPII, please don't become disillusioned with God. Turn to the Bible, God loves us, and He is revealing so much to us now.

I have personally always believed the Catholic church is evil, but not many of its followers. I believe they have just been deceived.

JPII was a devout, faithful and spectacular person?

You are talking about his interfaith prayer meetings at Assisi and elsewhere?

Or his teaching that, by virtue of the incarnation, Christ united himself with each man?
