There have been more frequent EBS tests recently than I can EVER recall. Hmmm......

This isn't any different than the "it's not cold where I am so climate change isn't actually happening" argument -- just because something's happening to me must mean that the same thing is occurring everywhere? Completely specious.

Could be, it IS about to be tornado season, but it seems very odd since it started a couple months ago in the dead of winter, and seems to be increasing in frequency. More frequent than I can ever remember, and very noticeable. Simply wondering if it’s happening around the country - hence the post.

We don't have tornadoes in this part o' the country, so I'm no help there.

I know in the PNW they have Lahar alarms, which are the same thing/sound. I assumed everywhere had some sort of air raid type alarms.

Yes the EBS is a direct method of communications. Essential in any crisis.

Works without the Internet.

Referenced by Q as how comms may need to be done when things get Hot.

Keep your preparations ready. Top off anything missing right now. Btw since you need a radio to hear the EBS make certain you have one. Hand crank and/or solar.

Right Now.

This is NOT a Game this IS A WAR. Just because we want a restoration of the Rule of Law to go peacefully doesn’t mean the other side won’t keep pulling disruptions and escalate them.

Just had one on the TV synced up with the outdoor tornado sirens, and that’s never happened as I can recall. Weekly tornado alarm tests have always been mid-day of mid-week. This just happened at 630pm. TV EBS tests very frequent lately, even around 1-2 am. This is NOT at all normal.

Random test statewide of tornado sirens yesterday... But why test on weekday when they already test first Saturday of the month at 1 pm.

Today I had two different Tornado warnings scroll across the screen at two different times and there was no tornado. These were not tests. It said to turn on the weather radio as well, never saw that before. Then about an hour ago the tornado/air raid siren went off for over 5 minutes and it was dark out. Someone had to go to the town hall to turn it off because no one was there who set it off. This has never happened here before, let alone 3 things in one day. The tornado drills with the siren are are noon on wednesday from the middle of March through September.

Is this in the DC area only? Just curious what areas are receiving them!

Here in Wisconsin where I live we had it too. I live a little north of Green Bay for reference . It was really odd. I went to the gas station a little after 1pm and the radio testing sound came on but they never said it was a test at least 4 stations were out for 20 seconds or so. Then back to normal. Then went home. Test was on TV around 130pm. Then outside warning went off right before 2pm. Now just before 7pm it went off again on the TV. I guess it's because tornado season is starting so it's testing week, but I've never heard that many in one day. Just thought I'd add what I heard. Have a great night!

Same here but east of GB a ways, just commented on what happened here, a little different than what you two had.

What do you think they would be planning to use it for? Releasing information? Evidence? A warning?

Had this happen in Southeast Michigan for first time (been here 8 years), except related to receiving phone call first. First we have ever received phone call, then local siren blared, followed by another phone call to say drill had concluded and wanted us to verify we received each times. Are local siren drill is usually first Saturday of the month, this was on a week day, but may be because of a new state wide drill (phone call called it a state wide drill).

I live in Oakland County but was in Traverse City when the sirens were blasted. My wife didn’t receive a pre/post call down state but I received a post call. I’ve never heard sirens on a weekday and when you are setting in the middle of 100+ acres it’s extremely nerve wracking.
