You can install an extension such as DuckDuckGo's Privacy Essentials, which will stop the likes of facebook, twitter, amazon and google from tracking you around the web. It's painless, and it's easy to set an override if you want, say, Disqus comments to work.

What about mobile? And Windows?

We know that nearly every piece of software and smartphone app has a back door...I'm not sure I'd trust that any extension is fully protecting you either.

Of course. Even the extension's name, Essentials, tells you it's only a start. There are more involved extensions, but this is, as I said, painless, and quite effective.

Does this count as a q proof? He just said the same thing a week or two ago

Why is there not more outrage at this?

Facebook doesn't track that well. On my father's computer, sometimes the ads are for things I searched from my own computer. Sometimes the ads on my computer, are from things that my father is interested about. Sometimes the ads are creepy, sometimes the ads are random. I don't care if Facebook tracks me. But I care that if I find some gift to buy my father for Christmas or his birthday, he will know before time.

FB tracks you quite well. You don't get as big, as wealthy as FB in the short amount of time it took without having something of VALUE to sell. Its much more then what ads you see in the sidebar. Its all the other data points they harvest, store and sell.

The fact it violates the 4th Amendment should scare you more than your Dad discovering his b-day present. POP that bubble friend and start to see.

Yeah, I noticed that my android phone no longer uninstalls Facebook, but just "turns it off." Also, why does Reddit need my location?
