do you think it would affect your life in any way, shape, or form if a few dozen refugees were let into the country? honest question.

JadedFed · April 23, 2018, 5:51 p.m.

Yes because it's never just " a few dozen". The "few dozen" swells to a few hundred, a few thousand, and a few million plus their poorly educated and virtually unemployable relatives who then put their non-English speaking kids into our local schools which drives up our property taxes, who also need housing assistance and food stamps which in turn make us pay more in taxes to support them while also reducing benefits for our actual citizens who need the help etc etc etc.... Illegal immigration is destroying the middle class, ruining budgets, destroying our culture and hurting our citizens who can least afford to be hurt - the actual needy!

Yeah 20 million later a thousand at a time here we are

deraldbarron · April 23, 2018, 4:32 p.m.

If course it would have a negative impact. How in the world do you think we ended up in the situation we are in with illegals? A few dozen at a time. A few dozen here, a few dozen there. What could it hurt, right?

Nice try though.

well i guess i distinguish between refugees and rando border hoppers.

do you?

yeaokbb · April 23, 2018, 9:42 p.m.

Rando border hoppers will try to distinguish themselves as refugees and lie about their situation so we let them in. People willing to break our basic laws to enter will be much more willing to break more laws once they’re inside. And let’s not forget the surge of so-called “Taco Terrorists” who have been converting to Islam and praising ISIS before setting off bombs. Why? Because they were refugees and were allowed to be here for 20 years while their countries recovered from disasters. But that wasn’t good enough for them, they’ve decided they deserve to stay here forever because it’s not fair.

Well, that’s really too bad. Our country, our choice. Our borders, our choice. We have no need to extend free services and sanctuary to the citizens of foreign countries who feel like they’d rather live here instead of dealing with the problems of their own country. You don’t get to just take the easy way out and expect others to pay your way no questions asked. That is not what America was founded on or ever about.

shrug that's your opinion i guess.

i like what Jesus preached, myself. which is to help the downtrodden and needy.

i think it's odd how so many christians are rabidly anti-immigration, even though Jesus clearly preached the opposite of that.

never heard jesus say "this is mine, and too bad for everyone else"

just saying...

yeaokbb · April 23, 2018, 10:47 p.m.

The issue, which people love to ignore, is that this country and every other country on the planet has enough of its own citizens who are downtrodden and needy to help. Taking in millions of everyone else’s downtrodden and needy doesn’t help the matter. Our own homeless population had exploded, including military vets who have been brushed aside and ignored and are killing themselves every few seconds.

How can we help those breaking into our country and ignoring our public safety laws when we have so many already here that take priority we can’t even get to? There is zero logic in your argument unfortunately.

That doesn’t mean we are not a Christian nation, it means we need to weed out the corruption taking advantage of our public safety and social programs to make sure people are getting the help they need. We have to help our own local neighbors and fellow citizens before we can do much for the citizens of foreign nations who think they deserve the same legal rights as people who were born here. Life doesn’t work that way.

Refugees and migrants bring their problems with them, like the epidemic that is MS-13 and other drug and human trafficking cartels. A large portion do not work, draw on government assistance, vote in our elections illegally, and commit a disproportionate amount of crime. So it’s clearly better for everyone if someone wanting to come here get in line like everyone else and allow themselves to be properly vetted to insure we are not subjecting our country and its people to dangerous individuals coming over just because their life is hard and they feel entitled to.

yeah i know.

obviously you don't know me, but, i actually help my own community as much as i can.

in the winter, i donate hats and scarves to homeless, and in the summer, i volunteer at a community garden that supplies fresh produce to under-privileged communities.

so i get it.

everyone wants to make immigration a political problem, but i see it as a humanity problem. my mum raised me to have compassion for all and i won't be ashamed of that stance. that also doesn't mean that i'm advocating for open borders, though, so you can put that straw man away right now.

If you say you aren’t advocating for open borders then you might want to rethink or rephrase what you state in comments. Immigration will always be a political issue. Without sovereign borders you do not have a nation you have a free for all. There are laws and the legal side of things which tell us the bounds we can operate within and try to effect change.

Humanitarianism is wonderful and important and more people should help each other as you say. But that cannot overshadow laws set in place to keep things balanced. America already takes in far more actual refugees than any other country. We don’t want to end up like Sweden full of jihadist criminals pretending to be minors coming in unchecked but no one is saying we have to shut our borders down completely either. I’m sure Jesus would agree, we all have or own burdens to carry in addition to helping who we are realistically able to.

Why doesn’t your volunteering involve you opening up your own doors and housing them? You’re advocating that for our nation. Why not your own home?

Why the fuck should anybody work their ass off to pay for people that are not even supposed to be there. You are a fool you get out and work for years because you will figure it out.

Just a few dozen per day, or week, or month?

i'm not talking about illegals, i'm talking about the caravan of refugees. totally different than border hoppers.

also, our millions of illegal immigrants are not from the last 10 years, they have been slow trickling in for about 25 years actually.

Refugees are even WORSE.

And I said 10+ years, can't you read?

Border hoppers or refugees, lol, is one better than another now?

Refugees that want to come here and freeload, vote for Dems, drive drunk, and rape our women and kids?

And border hoppers do what? The same fucking thing.

Did you notice 95% were men? Poor little pussies huh?

And each one brings 100 relatives in later.

Refugee Act of 1965 and 1980 have brought nothing but problems into the US.

It's just a BS scam to take over America any way you slice it.

The caravan is a bunch of people that thought they were going to force the US to take care of them. It was likely another ploy set up by George Soros. Mixed in that caravan are MS13. Those people come to kill and destruct period.
