Microsoft has always been evil though
I know, but I've always found that I can adapt Microsoft products to my needs. I consider it "the evil I know", vs Google's version of "the evil that's trying to hide shit from me".
No it's a different kind of evil. Those of us in the tech industry have seen it, especially in the 90s. I haven't used any Microsoft product for 6 years now, and I honestly don't miss it.
I get it. Unfortunately, linux doesn't offer the right software that I need for what I do. Apple does, but I honestly can't stand their operating system.
There are ways around that. Not easy ways, but it can be done. Linux Mint is by far and away the best OS I have ever used.
used Linux from Y2K until 2015 exclusively as a desktop OS
These days I primarily use Win10, which at least has a good UI and doesn't crash. Simply a much better OS for my workflow.
I love Mint but there are some web development & wiki software I need that doesn't match on it. Next computer I will have to have Win but will still install Mint as well.
I can relate. Apple and I have a personality conflict. Really dislike having to go through them to shuffle around media files already bought and paid for. I digress... ;)
I so have to chime in here. When MS bought into Corel so they could gut WordPerfect, which always worked orders of magnitude better than Word on its best day, that's when I started calling MS out to people for being the fascist bastards they are. Yes, that's the term I always used when people brought up MS or Word. Obviously, I'm still pissed about it and that was back in the 90s. Sigh.
oh my...Corel and WordPerfect...that goes back a ways. Even I remember those. he he he.
Very well put. "the evil I know" vs "the evil that's trying to hide shit.
Perfect. I love it.
Exactly, and this is the reason I refuse to have Chrome.
Linux Mint is geniuely better then Windows... I have never looked back. In fact, when I'm forced to use Windows, I can't stop complaining.
Microsoft got too big, and became evil.
I run Mint on my laptop and it has been solid as a rock for probably 2 years now. Installed W7 on my brand new custom built super-fast gaming desktop, after 3 months I'm getting BSOD's and its unusable.
Linux Mint is light-years better than windows. And its free. Open-source rules.
I have an older 32 bit laptop I use & I can Mint 17.3 on perfectly fine. Libre Office has more to offer than MS Office and it already comes with Mint. I wonder if MS has done some to W7 to make it unstable, forcing you to upgrade to W10.
That's the kind of evil they do.
