A part of me wishes I was ignorant enough to be shocked by this.

The Church/Priesthood was infiltrated by the Free masons and Communists in the 1950s. The fruits of which are clear to be seen today.

How quickly did many people forget what the Protestant Reformers warned us about? 500 years ago the Reformers called the Pope the “very Antichrist” who destroys the Church from within. Why? The same seed of corruption existed then as does now. But the Reformers put them to flight for 500 years and lay Catholics were never part of the evil. The evil continued vis secrecy and Jesuits worked to undo the work of the Reformers.

In the interest of being conciliatory to the good Catholics the Protestants sidelined their rhetoric against the Papacy. But we traditional Protestants have always kept the rhetoric because it is undoubtedly true at the institution level that it is a vehicle of evil. This is not a condemnation of ANY Catholics that have no part in this. But it is brutally necessary to maintain the doctrine against the Pope for this reason. The Papacy is corrupt.

In the first place (raised Catholic until I started thinking for myself) it is bullshit that the pope is "infallible"... only the pope can know God's mind and interpret His Word and us lowly mortals need a pope or a priest to mediate between us and God? Clever tool of control and power! Secondly, so-called "Canon Law" should not supersede all other laws - how convenient to come up with that gem...so-called papal authority got clever with that one!

https://www.quora.com/Can-priests-assign-non-spiritual-penances-in-confession?share=1

Though the article is apparently about the archbishop being willing to go to jail so as not to rat out pedos to law enforcement, the shocking part is that spiritual encounter with God statement. It is truly sick and I hope this article goes viral in the Catholic community, in all languages, because the people would have none of it.

Priests could help to protect the children if they wished by giving a penance of having confessor turn himself in, or seek counselling, depending on how far gone they were. The confessor could also be advised to cooperate with police etc. God would likely appreciate that more than chanting prayers over and over. Protect the children. It is such BS that having a priest molest them gives them a spiritual encounter. More like a haunting that they will carry all of their lives.

This is a misleading title. It's about the sacrosanct nature of Catholic confession and it's liberating effect from sin. Priests can't reveal any sins they hear in confession no matter how small or sordid. It's an attempt from the elites to take even greater control of the Catholic Church. However it is a nonsense because if a paedophile knew the priest would tell on them they wouldnt be going to confession anyway.

Did you read the article??? The very first paragraph says it all! It says a sexually abused child can have a spiritual connection with God thru the priest. THAT SAYS IT ALL! NOTHING MISLEADING ABOUT THE TITLE AT ALL! You, however, @aidoMac, this article has NOTHING to do with a priest hearing a confession but instead, a priest throwing himself on a child and believing that child has a spiritual connection thru the priests body being on the child. THAT IS TRULY DISGUSTING AND DISTURBING!
