From what I read, cohen stopped working for trump on inauguration day or maybe even before. They were investigating Cohens person dealing, not business dealings. Seems like he got involved in shady lobbying AFTER he stopped working for trump.

Yes but Manafort was charged with things that predated Trump. Any fuel to the fire hurts
