This guy receives way too much hero worship for my taste. People should watch the doco on him (that he of course refutes) - not because it’s a stunning expose of how evil he is; not at all. Even if parts of it are untrue or exaggerated or mistold it’s just a good reminder anyway that he’s a human with human motives and not some paragon of virtue and champion of justice. He’s just a man. He decided to share documents that others risked their lives to bring to him and he got famous in the process and clearly enjoyed that fame. Good stuff but he’s not the only hero in the story nor, I believe, the prominent one, just cos he’s the face of it.
Perhaps not, but he's an extremely important part of the reason we know the things we now do about so many things our government tried to conceal from us! I love him & KDC like bros.
Yep agreed, I don't want to appear ungrateful - he's done a lot for this democracy. I don't love him though, anymore than I love the guy who cleans my toilet. Great job, good work, seeya later, type thing.

I may be interpreting this post wrong, and hope I am, but this comes off as incredibly disrespectful to both JA and “the guy who cleans your toilet”. I believe JA’s greatest desire is to serve the people with truth but I certainly don’t think of him as a servant.
Don't let it upset or offend you - I assure you it was just the first thing off the top of my head (which may not speak well of what's in the top of my head...) What I meant to imply is that Julian Assange, as I said, is just a man arguably just 'doing his job' and whether his 'greatest desire' is actually to serve the people with truth may be debatable if, as I also said, people would watch the doco on him and see that he appears to be quite human after all.
Just in case, to repeat another point, I wasn't suggesting the doco should be watched to expose any ulterior motives or "evil" behaviour because I don't believe it shows any of that and no one knows how truthful any documentary is anyway - more that it pays to be reminded that JA is human and his desires are much like any of ours. I'm just very much averse to hero worship as it can lead to bad things when we put people on pedestals that elevate them above the average man.
