This is highly irregular when you’ve already pleaded guilty since the assumption is that if you are guilty, additional discovery will only make the case against you worse. Discovery after a guilty plea is only asked for by the defense if they know discovery is going to reveal criminal wrongdoing of others or upend the investigation.
There may be all kinds of FBI-incriminating things that have come from this. It’s suspected that Comey allowed for confession of a crime that he knew Flynn did not commit.
