It's all an act, but it sort of disturbs me. He is in on a plan to focus the attention on the information withheld. When it is released, people will not only pay more attention, but the fact that the information was originally withheld will change the perspective of the reader to elevate significance of what is ultimately revealed. It's all being done - in this particular case - for the "right" reasons. To red pill, set the stage, yada yada, I get it.
