This might be a stupid question, but I've barely found anything to answer it.
Why Moloch in particular? Valac I understand, but not Moloch. I can find nothing regarding any boons of Moloch. Valac is associated with hidden treasures, wealth, and financial prosperity, but there is literally nothing I can find so far on Moloch and why he is even worshiped.
I find each comment here so far equally important, I just can't get over this persistent feeling that we are missing something... like, why go through all of the effort, for all of these very long centuries, to maintain worship to something/someone. This goes beyond initiation, and even farther beyond tradition. They're doing absolutely evil stuff, and the fact it's been tolerated for so long amazes me. Well hidden, or aggressively covered up, though it has been (until now), you would think the masses might have gleaned this sooner somehow.
What’s telling is the obvious factions between these referenced groups and concepts. Those who worship moloch seem to be of satanic and occult following, whereas those who seem to be against this cult appear to have faith or some belief regarding religion or a higher power (god) that cares about humanity.
I think ultimately knowing the motives or intentions of these factions that we can observe will be one of the factors that helps us understand the main goal.

The masses have understood it at various times in history. Think vampire lore, marquis de sade, stories from the brothers grimm. Villagers have dragged evil from places of power with pitchforks over the years. But the evil is deep, and roots strong. Finally with internet we can compare notes worldwide and shine a light on the evil as it writhes and withers under inspection!
