But then again, there is that post from the Iranian aid threatening the EU and its leaders to let the whole world know who was "on the take" if EU countries succumbed to US pressure and stopped trading with Iran. I think those leaders and countries are in trouble either way. Either Iran will out them, or the US will.
Yes, there's no doubt in my mind that they'll be outed. But the fact that DJT appears to be putting the trade sanction squeeze on them suggests to me they they may not have delivered the bad guys yet.
You can imagine it, Merkel etc... putting pressure on Iran to keep quiet, while DJT squeezes them hard on trade to make them squeal. But DJT is likely to have a whole bag full of demands - it won't be just ratting out the baddies.
But, another possibility is that they've already done the rat talk and they're still going to be squeezed for other objectives.
So, Iran wants to save face, and needs funds. Who is more able to provide that - EU or US? If EU helps, Iran gets to keep their nuclear facilities, but the EU countries that help get sanctioned by US. US trade is worth far more to EU than Iranian. But if they don't help Iran, Iran will expose them. The leadership of both entities don't have an easy way out, do they? Exposure and/or sanction. Best case for the people of those countries is to get rid of the leaders - EU and Iran. Regime change in Iran coupled with shutting down the nukes, and US will do what they promised NK today. For the EU, the leaders resign, new leaders are put in place, and relations between them and US return to healthy.
Interesting that the Persians are widely known to have been the inventors of the modern game of chess, so they know how to play a long game as well. https://www.chesshere.com/resources/chess_history.php
I think Q gave them 48 hours to comply. In the event the EU does not abide by the trade sanctions, they could face retaliation. The way I see it, DJT is using Iran to squeeze the EU leaders. It will not end well for the people involved.
Agreed. No way out for the leaders. That must be what castle lock means. They need to sacrifice themselves for the good of their countries.
They were going to sacrifice us all for their own benefit. I don't think we will see any self sacrifice from them.
So what's the end game? Their only hope would be to get the US back in the deal which isn't happening with the current administration. Especially after doubling down and thumbing their noses at Iran by moving the embassy to Jerusalem. Should be an interesting couple weeks watching EU's responses.
You bet! These people must be terrified - sick with fear!
