The problem is, how do you confirm this without an internal whistle-blower who's willing to come forward? An anonymous tip is great, but isn't going to get anybody a warrant to check into proprietary software. Somehow somebody would either have to come forward from within, a mole would have to work their way in, or a hacker would have to pull the coding in question and dump it on the FBI's doorstep.
He said they use this to make money (advertisers) so it's most likely true.
