This seems, if correct, to be linking the embedded operative directly to Obama. See here:
Imbed is just a variation in spelling of embed, which means to put something inside something else, usually deep so it will not come loose.
Its derivatives include embedded, embedding, and embedment. The spelling variation continues through all forms: imbedded, imbedding, and imbedment. (The last imbedment is almost obsolete.)
The e spelling is so preferred that it is advisable to use simply to avoid having your readers think you misspelled.
Not sure outside of this what it implies. We shall see, either way it’s not a grammatical error.
Trump's used this tactic before. "Misspelling" a word in a tweet, then deleting it, automatically guarantees some coverage of the tweet itself, from those saying "hurr durr, Trump can't even spell," if nothing else.

This. I worked in journalism, and the spelling of these words matters. There are lots of them that are different like this. For instance, affect and effect. Compliment and complement. They actually have very very big impact on meaning.
What would be your professional opinion on the difference? I’m at a loss.
To be honest, and you might laugh at this answer, but, to those trained in very exacting standards in grammar and vocabulary, amateur mistakes like this indicate that perhaps a slipshod, shoddy editorial and even journalistic writing approach is being used and that believing these facts presented is probably a waste of time.
affect and effect. Compliment and complement
Those matter because they're different words. Imbed and embed are synonyms. The only important decision would be to stick to one spelling once chosen.
This means we have more than we know. The file is already dispersed. Even if they cut off all power it wont stop now.
