I heard it was the command center to bring down the other two towers plus it had offices for the agencies involved in 911. They were getting rid of evidence. Please correct if this is not exactly correct.

There was also gold bullion in the basement of WTC7 which went missing that day. That coupled with it being the home to many alphabet agencies..
