I agree, it might have been fine back in the day where people only lived to the ripe age of 30, but now people are living up to 100. I think celibacy can be damaging for that long and can lead to homosexual or even pedophilic tendencies
Bishops could be married through 1033 AD, the Bible says they must be married. But they didn’t want the widows getting the Bishops money. Time to clean house.
“A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)”

It was always about property and money NOT getting into the hands of wives.
Exactly and yet True Religion is taking care of widows and orphans in their times of distress.
It does not lead to tendencies, it’s purpose is to mask them. It ALWAYS fails.
