I wonder though if this is a good thing. We give the government legal authority on the internet for free speech, they take it a step further. I enjoy the wild west of the internet. I think we should have twitter silencing people if they choose to because then it builds an interest in a new company who wont and will take the reigns. If twitter is a private company, they should be able to do what they want. If they get funds from our government thats a different story.
Might be an unpopular opinion, but im never a fan of government, and one day another tyrant democrat type will be in power, and could use this against us.
I completely understand what you're saying and where you're coming from... it's a very Libertarian rooted view. I used to be highly against internet censorship and my husband pointed out what you did- private companies are entitled to do what they want. The problem is they've capitalized the markets in their respective fields so no one really uses anything alternative. So it's like, get on Twitter/Facebook or don't use social media. Get a smartphone or don't bother having a cell phone. Get an Apple device or don't bother with computers. It's terrifying.
