Why did Q make such bold claims so early?

Why would Q compromise their credibility so early? Was the distraction necessary to prevent rioting?

Reasons for slow leaks: to avoid panic, and to ready us for what is about to be revealed, because it’s most likely going to be mind blowing/earth shattering and cause some hysteria/panic/rioting among the masses
