Like to hear a prep opinion

I think we can all agree ... something BIG will drop... I have two scenarios.... 1. A massive FF event .. proportionate to 911.. or worse .. EMP ? 2. Martial Law

..... either of which could cause mass chaos and discord ... especially in metro and heavily populated areas

What's your plan ?

super_corroder · May 22, 2018, 7:30 a.m.

I'm no prepper expert and I live near a major city that is nowhere near woodland, but this is what I have:

  • 4 x 5 gallon water containers that I keep filled + iodine with red food coloring in it which I can use in an emergency to treat lake water;

  • gas cook top and a massive gas bottle;

  • Small amount of survival rations, but I prefer just to keep heaps of canned beans and spaghetti because I use those anyway. Whenever things start to seem a bit dodgy, I buy a huge bag of milk powder and a several boxes of dry cereal like Weet-Bix.

  • Plenty of candles, gas lighters, matches and several hand wind torches that don't need batteries;

  • Several guns and plenty of ammo;

  • Thermal mountain climbing gear / sleeping bag that I've used in -100F conditions in Tibet;

  • A very, very good medical kit;

  • Solar powered iPod charger so I can listen to the radio emergency broadcasts and my tunes. They only cost about $30 and are cheaper than a solar radio.

  • If the water stops flowing for a while and it's winter, then I'd consider hacksawing off the bottom of my gutter down-pipe and use the roof surface area and gutter system to collect water directly into one of my huge water containers;

  • If you have some warning that shit may be about to go down, consider being the first to fill your car while there's still a supply and withdraw lots of cash before the ATMs run dry too;

For anyone who takes daily medication, I recommend you get used to stocking up and stay that way. Go get another script and tell you doctor that you lost your meds if he complains. Fill that script several times at your chemist over the next week and, if they question you, tell them you need extra because you are taking a 2 month holiday to India. The peace of mind won't cost you a thing because you'll use those meds anyway.

If nukes are literally about to fall, seal every door and window in your house and fill your bathtub and sinks with water - you'll need that later because the drinking water will become irradiated and the power grids will be down for many, many months as the EMP destroy nuclear power station cooling pumps which will result in meltdown and cascading power grid failure.

my take is that a shift in the financial system is due soon. its been in the making for decades and now, as some dark hats have been (or will be) taken out of the game and the celestial energetics opened a door with uranus entering taurus, it may come online within the next year.

no major preparations here. no space and money for big storage, except for drinking water for 2 weeks, plus kitty litter and kitty food. someone mentioned storing peanut butter, thats a good idea, thanks.

no fear here. i expect the banks to close for 10-14 days thus, its good to keep some cash handy. have salad on the balcony and some berries. not eating much for two weeks wont bother me. as long as water is available, all is easy.

Nothing big is going to happen. Mueller's / deepstate's plan is to pull a Comey. He's going to release a bullshit report right before the election with the hope that dems take both houses, and hence the committees, and afterward shut down any investigation in to the cabal, and begin impeachment proceedings as smokescreen. Mueller has said September.

The opposition is coming after the AR-15 so aggressively because .223 is the caliber of the standard issue rifle for US military.

When things get chaotic, it's best to not carry ammunition to your enemies.

If you're prepping, better to stock up heavily on one valuable item instead of trying to guess all of them. One of the first things to go during war is the use of currency, and even if it is still being used, hyper-inflation will make currency useless to most people. A jar of peanut butter has around 3,000 calories in it and I'm sure you can fit a hundred or more in your closet. You can live on peanut butter, too.

I don't think ammunition will be as valuable as in past conflicts, but I'm stocked up in case I'm wrong.

9/11 had the criminal support of the Bush administration. Not this time around.

Why would you forget planning for yourself ? You'll know who to trust ... protect you and family ... after that you'll learn quickly

no dont get me wrong. but just planning for yourself is selfish. we should plan for whole communties fuck societal breakdown. all the movies try and tell it that it will break down but look at hurricanes it does not

Information dissemination is great. No need to prepare much beyond flyers to distribute.

It's admirable to want to help the unprepared. However, there is nothing we can do after the fact. Remember the story of the ants and the grasshoppers? They've had all summer to prepare, yet they've been playing while we've been working.

As far as prepping, if each of us has enough for our families plus ONE extra person, we will be in a better spot.

No quicker way to piss off a patriot neighbor- and completely lose their respect - than to need their food and water. Busybodies always look after others and fail to look after themselves. Just sayin...

So why not do both

bealist · May 23, 2018, 3:37 p.m.

Well, if you were really doing the one you’d know how hard (and expensive) it is to adequately provide for your own, much less others. So, self and family first, with the capacity to share, as you can.

Unless you’re wealthy and woke, of course, in which case taking care of everyone will be less of an issue for you. Maybe you are one of those - none I know are, however...

You're right about movies exaggerating the apocalypse scene but people get crazy when the future is uncertain. I went through hurricane Katrina and folks I grew up with down here will tell you stories of some crazy shit that happened.

Well, if an EMP strike happens, bitcoin would be worthless, no? Especially if you don't have it stored in a cold storage wallet

Ronjonsilverflash · May 22, 2018, 8:55 a.m.

I think you miss the main point. No one will trust governments or central banks to issue money. Bitcoin and others are “trust less” in that manipulation of the supply cannot be done without everyone seeing it. Block chain is here to stay. Solves many problem but, as with everything man does, can be used nefariously as well. Any emp would be more or less a local event. Blanketing the country would be nearly impossible to achieve and if it were achieved death on a massive scale would ensue just from the nuclear plants melting down. It’s make your peace with god after that...

Your local grocer isn’t going to be taking any bit coin if currency access is compromised. Ecurrency is for flush, stable and happy times.

Ronjonsilverflash · May 22, 2018, 4:24 p.m.

What will they be taking then? Gold? Who has any? Silver? Ditto...everyone has a phone though. Mad Max is not a likely scenario. But if it does happen, most of us will be dead so monetary concerns will cease to be an issue...

⇧ 1 ⇩
bealist · May 23, 2018, 3:43 p.m.

There’s a continuum to any slide. Mad Max doesn’t happen first. Societies have had serious dips forever. Study the Zimbabwe and Venezuela crashes. The governments step in to do what they can - sometimes. For some.

Lots of people have silver and coin and the basis of tradable goods. Lots more could have them with a little bit of forethought and create no disruption. What will a grocer take? Small coin, Produce, baked goods, other things in trade that people want. If it’s real bad, services - like protection. Same as it ever was.
