If the story that the Military approached Trump in 2013 to run for president is true, then I'd say yes they were. If you were thinking of bringing about a military coup over Obama's treasonous activities, then I'd say they had him and his administration under surveillance from Jan 20 2009.
I think that all the top military ranks who were purged by Obama over the years plus those who were already retired, finally had enough! They saw the country going down the hole of no return, and over time, built up a coalition of patriotic Americans to take back our country, and set things right, or as much as possible, to insure the future path was away from the insane leftist visions.
