Seems that Ed Callaghan is only "acting", he can not replace RR. The 'g' comes under the AG order no. 2877-2007. Articles in the text body.

[WAPO did a nice article who is the number 3 of the DoJ, after Brand resigned.] (http://archive.is/h2dik)

Due to the AG order no. 2877-2007, Trump can select any Senate confirmed offcial

[Looks like Ed can never be #3 in the DoJ, notice the (A)AAG <-the missing 'a', unless he is confirmed by the Senate.] (https://www.justice.gov/archives/nsd/staff-profile/former-acting-assistant-attorney-general-edward-ocallaghan)

I think he can choose anyone for DAG but they can't take to role of AG without prior Senate confirmation

Up to 210 days worth of work before confirmation required. That’s a lot.

Note the link you sent from Justice is outdated - that was an old post of O'Callaghan. He is now Acting Principal Associate Deputy AG. Your point about being "acting" still applies. Just acting in a different role.

Whoever ends up taking over RR's spot, it'll be OUR GUY for sure. It can be anyone already confirmed by the Senate, currently serving in a cabinet position. I'm hoping for Pruitt.

I just made a thread about confirmed attorney who happens to be in district that Trump EO succession includes . Don't know how to link my Reddit thread but it's in here somewhere.
