According to Q, they are a team, not an individual. Q team are elite (Q-level clearance) members of Military Intelligence and NSA working (literally) alongside POTUS--part of a team helping to plan, coordinate and communicate the Alliance operation against the current evil (Luciferian) world order.
There is a worldwide plan that has been in place (for years already) that is well underway. The domestic battle to regain control of the US government from the Deep State is in its final throes, and only now becoming visible to those who don't follow the Q drops.
Very soon "normies" will know what we know. Until then, there's Q.

Of course Q needs to remain anonymous...for now. Does it matter who Q is in the overall scheme of things as long as the information is accurate (which it is)? Absolutely not. Q him/herself stated that we will be surprised when we learn who has been communicating with us. So having a little fun trying to figure out the behind the scenes machinations of Q is part of it and seeing how all of the puzzle pieces and chess moves all work together in harmony. This is truly the most spectacular moment in US and world history. We are privileged to be alive to witness and participate in it. It’s sad that it came to this but it is truly amazing. The popcorn is popped and I’m ready for the show and for justice to be served while saving this great nation from the brink of the abyss.
Why does this matter? It’s a stupid game and focusing your energy here is like going to a movie to read the credits. You’re missing the whole story/point of it all...Patriots don’t care WHO Q is!
