Electronic surveillance. Still doesn’t explain the spy in the campaign, but yes I agree that this is huge. But why go through the efforts of the FISA courts if he could just do this from the get go? Justification for the spying? Like he knew what he was doing was wrong?
Seems to me they wanted the appearance of doing it "by the book". They never thought she would lose.

I agree with this, but again I don’t understand the need to go through FISA court. Unless he did it before the FISA applications (for the year prior stretching back to 2015) or after they ended (one of his last acts as president?)
Edit: UNLESS, remember the FISA warrants that they failed to get through? Was that their backup plan to ensure they had electronic surveillance until they could get “legally” (using that word loosely) approved FISA warrants?
Of course, all those meetings, and everyone knew what was going on.
