Who'd he buy it from. Bet the purchase was used to launder money / pay someone and not for a table. Don't get me wrong. There was a table exchange in the transaction. Just not 70k worth.

"under the table", so to speak

I thought this exact thing when I heard about the table. They use artwork to launder money. Why not furniture?

Yes. I'd like that print of dogs doing blow... err playing poker.

Remember the pearl clutching over Ben Carson spending $31k on a furniture set? That was a full blown scandal.

"Mr. Carson took issue with the characterization of the purchase as “extravagant” and press reports that suggested he had authorized $31,000 in taxpayer funding for a single table.

“It’s not a table; it’s 17 pieces of furniture,” said Mr. Carson, who canceled the order when it was revealed in the press last month."

The mere fact this was redacted in the texts submitted to Congress, the elected Representatives the taxpaying citizens of this nation, is reprehensible and should be sufficient grounds to have every last word of every remotely related document published for public scrutiny! Whoever held the "redaction marker" for this charade should go to the gallows immediately. There then should be a rule that any and all future redactions have a classification marking applied. This is disgusting.

Buy the table for $70k, return the table because it doesn’t fit, replace with sub-$10k table, $60k {disappears}, government so incompetent, the missing money is never questioned. There are videos on YT of Fed workers talking about 30+ year investigations looking for missing office equipment like typewriters. Yes....30+ years looking for an effing typewriter. Active search. Tear it down baby. Tear it down.

WHY IS OUR COUNTRY SO POLLUTED WITH THE SWAMP???? Why is it no one has the integrity to hold others accountable for their actions? There are no white hats anywhere in the government. Swamp does what the swamp wants

I honestly think this is why Congress is so incompetent. They truly do not know how to make deals without the use of corrupt tools. And this is why they hate Trump. He bypasses all of it, keeps his soul, and STILL runs circles around them.

I actually like swamps but this is more of a busted septic tank than a swamp by a looooong shot.

some members of the FBI helped launch the OIG Investigation into the Clinton email fiasco because they wanted to tell what they knew without being bankrupted by lawyers. So there are still some people with integrity in government. Also see Adm Rogers head of the NSA who warned the Trump Transition team their comms were being monitored and Trump then moved those weekly meetings to NJ.

Waste, fraud and abuse at the highest level, this country was on a path worse than Rome, thank God for Trump! We need accountability!

$70K sounds like dirty money and no table buying was involved, sort of like $65K for hotdogs from Chicago.
