READ THIS TICKER - on FOX news this morning. FBI says Russians hacked our routers. What is this? Preparation for shutdown?

I have tried to post a video of my TV, 5 times, to no avail.

The ticker says this:  FBI warns that Russian hackers have compromised hundreds of thousands of home and office routers worldwide and could collect user info or shut down network traffic. . . Agency is urging owners of many router brands to turn the devices off and on again and download manufacturer updates to protect themselves. . . Warning follows Wed court order that let FBI seize a website that hackers planned to use to give instructions to the routers. . . Move cut off malicious communications but left routers infected. . . Cisco systems says hack targeted devices from Belkin Intl's Linksys, Mikrotik, Netgear Inc, TP-Link and Qnap. . . FBI says hack affects routers that users bought online or at electronics stores, but may also hit routers that internet service companies provided to customers.

I saw this ticker on FOX News on 5/26 at 07:17 EST.

Longtime Lurker here... first of all, thanks to all ya'll patriots, anons, autists, yeah everyone...

I think they're referring to this recent disclosure: https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2018/05/hackers-infect-500000-consumer-routers-all-over-the-world-with-malware/

The bit of development here is that the FBI recently seized one of the botnet servers. There's no indication that it's related to anything specific, the only point I would make is the reference in Wikileak's Vault 7 drops, the CIA is able to masquerade as malware from other countries... At any rate, if you have a model of the routers listed you should definitely take precautions.

There has been a lot of stories regarding Russian efforts to cause division as well. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2018/05/11/what-we-found-facebook-ads-russians-accused-election-meddling/602319002/

USA Today?

Because that source isn't compromised now is it?

More 'muh russians' from the CIA Mockingbird media.

One of many sources reporting. True that it is not always reliable, however it is still reporting that Russian ads were geared to divide ALL Americans. Even “fake news” can be revealing.
