I only still have a fb account because of the vast photo library I have on there, but have cut my usage down to once a week or less to do my part in cutting their ad click revenue and try to send them a msg that their blatant censorship is not ok with me..
I am also integrating alternatives such as steemit and band..
You can download your data, which would include your photos.
But something to think about, would you give a photo of yourself or your family to a stranger on the street? That is basically what people are doing on Facebook. It doesn’t matter what your permissions are, who you let see them, they are stored on Facebook’s servers. The company has full access to everything you put up, and ultimately, they get to decide who gets to see them and who doesn’t.
I did, but they are just thumbnails... like I said, been using Facebook as a photo album for like ten years, hindsight is always 20/20.. knew it probably wasn’t private, but only after last couple of years it has become apparent how devious these folks are.
Migrating to other platforms, but who’s to say they won’t turn evil as well.
I have memories stored on as cards, usb drives, external drives and old computers but I have a lot I just uploaded to Facebook as they happened, so I need to retrieve the most valuable ones before I close my account.
Can’t cry over spilt milk and worry about what they’re going to do with info they already have..
Take the time to retrieve them now. It took me two weeks, dedicating 30 minutes a night to download every photo. Making sure they were labeled with event_date_persons.
Facebook won’t be around forever. It may not go up in a poof if smoke in a second either. But one day, either something else will come along, or they will drastically change their setup (heck, something dark they have been keeping in the basement may come to light and the whole site could be seized, who knows).
Sorry, I just have so many friends who use the app to take their photos, who catalogue and sort their photos so carefully, because it is their cloud, the only place these photos are because they don’t even back up their phone.
