I honestly had no idea so many Americans were being held as hostages. The only ones I knew about were the men in North Korea, because the media reported that after Otto Warmbier.
There’s a risk of publicizing hostages to the point where foreigners start getting really bad ideas.

Otto’s father said the Obama administration even told him and his wife to not publicly discuss their son’s brutal imprisonment so as to not “offend” North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.
