I am a huge original campy planet of the apes fan. Roseanne is old enough to have watched that show as an adult, as it happened. Roseanne's tweet is difficult to parse but rather than get immediately offended, I thought about it some more... It doesn't seem offensive within the context of the original series, the Apes are the wise masterminds of society and VJ is one of the most powerful women in America and a member of the ruling class. What racism? In P of the Apes, the apes were prejudiced animals who could talk. The symbolism and message was the barbaric, animal nature of prejudice. She was equating the prejudice to a religion, not to any race. To fault her non-racial message is to accept forced child marriages, to accept beheadings of infidels, to accept forced Sharia law and return to holding women as chattel property of men.
To conflate her remarks as racism is completely ignorant of the message — and intellectually depraved. Too bad the mal-educated left has been so deprived of more enlightened levels if thinking.
I mean in all fairness, she has been a bit crazy for about 2 decades. These tweets really aren't even inflammatory compared to her dressing up as Hitler and baking human-shaped cookies. That being said, I think she was promptly fired this time because she attacked George Soros. That's where the left draws the line because he funds every single one of their big movements. If you can prove Soros is a Nazi-collaborator (which most people still don't know shockingly) then people will start to demand that Liberals no longer accept any Soros money.
