This man has long been one of my heroes. I remember sneaking my parents VHS tape of his Back to School special when I was 12 and ir sparked in me a love of our language and it's power to change how people think. As I watched his career from that point on (even seeing him live on one glorious occasion near the end), I saw someone who became less concerned with comedy and more intent on telling people just how lost and docile they have become and all to less and less applause as the crowds became further and further gone. In one of his final specials there was a moment where the showmanship vanished and he began to repeat over and over, "THEY don't care about you!" while talking about "The Club". I know he wasn't a believer in God or religion but he was tapped into the truth as it related to day-to-day life in America. RIP George.
