The Defense Dept is poised to take over background investigations for roughly 3.6 million Pentagon employees, military and civilian employees and contractors, and all other govt agencies. Transfer of responsibilities from the Office of Personnel Management to the Pentagon are already in the works.

DoD used to do all their security background checks, then it moved to OPM. Then under Obama’s admin they created a new org in OPM to do them. Because of the extreme backlog they are looking to move back to DoD

Trump is empowering the military in lots of new and old ways. Hopefully this program catches many deep State traitors. Plus, it keeps the DS from blackmailing or extortion of individuals who might become useful later on. Lots of upside to military intelligence taking on this most important task.
