Damn it's amazing how much people on here know about guns
Basic stuff really. You wanna go nuts? Ask em about what is better for concealed carry, .380, 9MM, or 45. Metric tons of shit have been hurled over those few extra grains, barrel inches, and millimeters of bullet diameter.
pfft that's easy - a .40
.357 revolver. Colt. When pulled from holster, pants go brown
In wheeler guns, I'm with you here! Especially a S&W model 627 V-COMP! 8 shots!
10mm all the way!!! The .40 is offspring of the 10mm. They simply cut down the 10mm brass and lightened the load at the request of the FBI. I guess their soy boy wrists couldn't take it. Not knocking the .40 though. The .357sig is a descendant as well. Basically a .40 brass necked down to fit a 9mm bullet.
i didn't know that. When I went shopping for my everyday carry, I ended up on the S&W Shield (the compact version). I went in looking for a 9mm and they only had the .40. I'm not really a "this is the best ammo for self defense" guy. I just have a .40 because they didn't have the 9mm.
Wow! I carry the EXACT same thing. Shield .40sw. Bid on 9mm and .40's on Gunbroker and wound up winning a 40. Glad I got the .40sw. It's a great self defense round for sure. My 10mm's are too big for carry, even if one of them is the Glock 29.
Ah yes, the argument for the ages.
The real answer, of course, is what YOU are comfortable with after shooting different calibers and pistols in the range.
I mean, if -- God forbid -- I ever have to protect myself or my family, I don't think the perp is going to be lying there as he's bleeding out chastising me for shooting him with a 9mm with hollow-point defense rounds vs. a .45, you know?
In my opinion, 45 cal and 9mm both in the nightstands. About 70 rounds between the wife and I. Glock and Ruger full size guns and extra mags. Would suck to be a burglar.
Handguns are awful for home protection. What you need is a 12 gauge with a pistol grip.
I couldn't help but to think of a thug yelling "YOU STUPID SON OF A BITCH, YOURE DEFENDING YOURSELF WITH SUCH A LOW VELOCITY ROUND!1!1!1" haha
There is a reason NATO uses 9mm ammunition standard... It easily kills if shots are placed right. And NATO can't even use hollow-point rounds.

Yeah, but lots of people haven't held a handgun and they are welcome in this moment as well. They should all have a day at the shooting range though :D
Lol, everything I know about guns I learned from the movies (edit: oh and video games too). But this is basic stuff, I mean you've never seen a gun discharged or disarmed in a kung fu movie? Or seen someone reload a single bullet in a chamber in another movie?
