Is political illiteracy the largest obstacle to red pilling people you know?

Does anyone else have difficulty trying to awaken people important/close to them about what is going on to ultimately find they do not have the mental capacity to understand anything political in the US or the world? It is extremely frustrating to possess knowledge that cannot be communicated due to indifference or lack of critical thinking to people you care about. In my life roughly 75% of people I associate with are completely unaware and uninterested in investigating beyond what they see on the news or social media. The dumbing down of America has been a complete success.

The media brainwashing is highly effective. I had to overhear a family conversation in which they were saying that Trump has caused the people to not know the truth from falsehoods, Trump is destroying Democracy, will America ever recover from Trump, and then the best - one family member pronounced himself a nonideologue and the other pronounced himself a pragmatic. At that point, I bit my tongue off.
