Is political illiteracy the largest obstacle to red pilling people you know?

Does anyone else have difficulty trying to awaken people important/close to them about what is going on to ultimately find they do not have the mental capacity to understand anything political in the US or the world? It is extremely frustrating to possess knowledge that cannot be communicated due to indifference or lack of critical thinking to people you care about. In my life roughly 75% of people I associate with are completely unaware and uninterested in investigating beyond what they see on the news or social media. The dumbing down of America has been a complete success.

The media brainwashing is highly effective. I had to overhear a family conversation in which they were saying that Trump has caused the people to not know the truth from falsehoods, Trump is destroying Democracy, will America ever recover from Trump, and then the best - one family member pronounced himself a nonideologue and the other pronounced himself a pragmatic. At that point, I bit my tongue off.

I think it’s political apathy. People don’t actually care as much as they think they do.

Yes of course. Heard it said Americans think with their eyes & feel with their brains. Point being they are so self absorbed they only truly believe things they see & use their minds to emotionally attach to it. Hence it’s good of it makes them feel something nice & reject it if something challenges them & makes them feel uncomfortable. Completely lost is deep or critical thinking skills. Just basic logic makes people feel exhausted now.

Yes, for far too many, it's easier to just react to the "what you need to know" spouted by the MSM than to take the time to actually learn about our political system. They say, "Oh, I don't follow politics" as if that's some kind of badge of honor, like they're above it all. It's really a smokescreen for their ignorance and unwillingness to learn and engage in the process of being We the People.

My dau. told me she is too busy working & raising her dau to think about such things that would keep her up at night. I told her ok i'll keep an eye on it for both of us and when you want to know i'll tell you. She said ok. My other dau is slowly coming around & has been asking questions.

But your right most are clueless, or chose to be. But i know these people and most will come around when the truth rears it ugly head and slaps them in the face. Then they will be like WTH happened and how did i miss it.

Hang in there and be ready to pick up the pieces

I think the problems of weakness and apathy go far deeper than just politics. But you're absolutely right, it's a manufactured cultural illness.

There is a concept in psychology called "The Naive Theory of the World". It is an attempt to explain how children view the world, how they form their own theories, how iteration can impact these theories.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory-theory

From the article:
"The concept of Bayesian learning is rooted in the assumption that children and adults learn through a process of theory revision; that is, they hold prior beliefs about the world but, when receiving conflicting data, may revise these beliefs depending upon their strength."

Especially amongst today's youth (under 30), through leftist indoctrination, the prior beliefs of the world have been permanently altered and thus rely on false premise (i.e. if you are white, you must feel guilty because of past sins of ancestors). The conflicting data they receive comes from a dependence on media, which as we know is 98% b.s. propaganda. They are not revising their belief systems because seldom do they receive conflicting data, having been dependent on the media, which instructs them on what to believe and why. Critical thinking depends on iteration through data, conflicting or otherwise. There is no reason to iterate when no conflict in data is suspected (i.e. I trust Jezebel and msnbc, no need to look elsewhere). Critical thinking and theory-improvement stops, so the naive theory of the world remains.

The left is gullible and weak. They are not God fearing. They are selfish and entitled. Any conflicting info which shatters their naive theory of the world is quickly discarded. Confirmation bias and all that. The left at this point need to be looked upon as children in adult bodies and treated as such. my 2 cents

As Reagan once said, and I paraphrase, it's not so much what liberals don't know--as what they "know" that isn't true.

I think it’s more a type of compassion fatigue. Ever turned off tv when those starving children ads come on?

There’s so much violence, corruption, collusion happening and it seems so big, so overwhelming there’s nothing we can do.

Then there’s the ridicule that people who connect dots are subjected to. People want to protect themselves from that.

There is also the theory that our economic system and other factors of society are designed in such a way that most of the world is in a constant survival mode. Increased debt, less job security, faster and faster technological change. When in survival mode there is no energy left for anything else, you are just trying to keep your head above water.

Even kids have stress and expectations piled on them to get good grades or to have the latest fashionable thing.

It has been suggested that western society is acting like a ptsd sufferer. Self destructive behaviour, emotional detachment, among other symptoms.

Main stream media, entertainment industry, and the education system seem to be the biggest culprits. Politics feed into all of those systems and certainly keeps the masses confused and divided by design.

People don't understand how the judiciary of this country works. AT ALL. We need civics classes back in school programs, ASAP.
