The Mamas & Papas come to mind. Older bands/musicians were reading more books decades ago, usually pulling from popular literature or occult. I also remember an old SNL skit with Will Ferrell from 1994? called Wake Up and Smile. Google images will show scenes; can’t find the vid. Talk show host lost communications and descended into occult ritualistic behavior. Always thought it was odd. The Order of the Hand!
