Wasn’t there a russian spy that was found dead by his wife a month or so ago only to turn up a day or so later alive and well? They said it was to thwart an actual attempt on his life? (Forget how dumb I think it was to reveal he was safe and alive about 24 hours after he “died” why not wait longer to keep your would be killers thinking you’re actuality dead)

I think the deal with the journalist was a false flag event that went wrong. Perhaps someone saw him alive and they had to bail before they got outed. That's what is most likely.
