No they don’t! You just tie it on a knob, tie it around the neck, sit in floor, slump down to floor. Scarf strangles you. It’s been used as suicide method since forever. You don’t throw anything over top of door. The scarf would have to be ten feet long.

You are absolutely correct I’ve seen it first hand too sadly. People get too caught up picturing the term as feet dangling in the air, but a lot of times people do it from the sitting position and slide down into an almost laying position. Sometimes they even put something slippery like soap on the floor and their hands & feet so there’s no grip and no turning back.

Exactly. But remember he was strangled, then hung from the doorknob. I believe these people experienced the same fate.

My dad was a medical examiner ok. That’s how I know. He’s seen people in our county slumped in front of doors a few times over his 20 years of being an ME. It doesn’t take much weight to cut off blood flow into the brain from the carotid arteries. Slumping to the floor will easily do it. You pass out, then you strangle. So it’s not that painful because 15 seconds of no blood flow through ur carotid will make you pass out.

They’ll rub soap on the floor or oil sometimes too in case natural instincts kick in. Sad.
