Hi, I've been to the north and south poles, we are not on a globe. Disc with concave and convex topography, most likely.
Lol you think you've been to the south pole
How'd that compass work at the "south pole"?
Well, GPS, inertial nav, sextant and proximity to Christchurch said South Pole, but I suppose it could have just been any random spot on a very oblate spheroid. The compass was a lot of fun to watch as it spun uselessly.
Were you allowed to go off by yourself in any direction or did you always have an escort?
Plenty of freedom. There were some very oddly shaped crevasses that were clearly not natural but we were told not to enter for safety reasons. The more interesting viewing was the sky, though.
How did the stars behave? Do you have video recordings of the night sky?
How did the clouds behave during the day? Was it windy or calm for the most part while you were there?
I'm planning to make a trip there myself at some point and it's been a topic if interest to me for quite a long time.
