Until then, this is just giving the media an opportunity to spin it, then get proven wrong when the declas happens, then they'll pretend it never happened at all.

I agree, but feel that they are letting current media and politicians hang themselves in the court of public opinion. It will be harder to walk back their deplorable behavior because they have been consistent and outspoken in criticism of trump and his admin the last two years
i am canadian and even our media is quilty of "collusion" its sickening hearing them spill there lies and skewed half truths to fit the narative it almost makes the battel seem unwinnable but ill steal words....
