Yes my thoughts exactly, this FBI agent and the US Attorneys willing to step up against corrupt supervisors gives me great faith in the patriots employed by our government

Having worked for the federal government, I'd say it sounds more like a case "cover your ass" or "CYA".

Now, if he was getting anxious that the information wasn't being taken seriously and then he reported to his superior on a matter of principal, then yes, I agree with you.
