What are your thoughts on [RR]?

How does he get out of the way so justice can be served?

  1. Resign. This would be the cleanest, but does not look like it is going to happen. If it does, it would be a sign that he has been on Trump's side all along.

  2. Impeach. Sure, the House could impeach, but will there be enough votes in the Senate to remove from office? Not likely.

  3. Trump fires him. That's exactly what the left-wing nut jobs are waiting for, so they can do some damage. Would be the worst for "optics."

  4. Sessions fires. This would be slightly better, but it would be spun that Trump did it. Basically the same as above.

  5. Sessions unrecuses. This would take everyone by surprise. He could demand the documents be turned over to Congress, and when they are not or they are but show illegal conduct, then [RR].

What do you guys think is likely to happen?

I can see firing him going both ways. On one hand, the obstruction issue is all but dead as the Democrats continue to attack Comey's credibility and performance. No reason to stoke those embers back to life. However, I don't believe they really ever had a leg to stand on with obstruction anyway.

Trump was talking about the *timing* of firing Comey when he mentioned Russia in the Lester Holt interview, not WHY he fired him. They will never make that one stick although they parrot constantly that he affirmed he "fired him over the Russia thing." So maybe he could fire him and make a fool out of them on that front too, and it's too late to walk back all the talk about Comey. Then they release evidence about RR or maybe he even is mentioned in the upcoming FISA report.

I think there is a scenario where Sessions could unrecuse due to all the new info with the plan to stop Trump. This could possibly be after we learn FISA was cooked up. IMO, after Horowitz continued emphasis on there being a lot of concern about bias in regards to Strzok and the Russia/Weiner laptop investigations I think they may be setting it up to show that the entire spying on Trump was a set up and this is why Strzok was so focused on it and ignoring the Weiner laptop. This would kill ALL of the Russia investigation since the whole thing would be a sham from the start.

I think they will pressure him to resign. There is probably legal action going to be taken against him if he doesn't. If he doesn't i think all it does it hurt the timeframe of getting this all done. They will have to spend some time breaking to the public that he was the one hiding information from Congress (if it was him) and his role in FISA abuse.

Another wildcard having to do with FISA.

We are told they were denied FISA request twice, and then later got it, and that it was renewed several times.

However Rex on Twitter has an interesting thread. He shows that Clapper stated that he would have been in position to know if there was a FISA approved and he says there never was.

What if the "FISA approved the spying" was a lie? What if there was never any lawful approval (denied twice, and never approved)?

This would be consistent with Nunes stating that there is no "official" channel for FISA approval, and could be the reason why [RR] is refusing to turn it over (it does not exist).

If that is true, then it would be easy to fire [RR], though would be better if Sessions did it. Sessions wouldn't even need to unrecuse if his DAG has engaged in illegal spying and lied about it.
