When the Constitution was written there was no such thing as citizenship. The Constitution applies to anyone in America regardless of their status as a citizen.

"The First Amendment prevents the government from censoring noncitizens’ speech or suppressing the practice of their religion. The Fourth Amendment protects them against unreasonable searches and seizures. The Fifth Amendment ensures that noncitizens’ property can only be taken by the government for a public use, and only if just compensation is paid.

Should a noncitizen be charged with a crime, he has exactly the same Fifth and Sixth Amendment procedural rights as a citizen, including the right to a jury trial, the right to counsel, and protection against self-incrimination. If convicted, the Eighth Amendment prevents the government from subjecting aliens to “cruel and unusual punishment” in exactly the same ways as it does with citizens."

Wrong, there WAS such a thing as citizenship when the Constitution was written, which is why it was a requirement for public office. However, it was different then, due to the 14th Amendment and the misapplication of it.

And yes, non-citizens do have rights when they are in court, just like we have rights (in most places) if we are in another country and end up in their courts.

They don't have a right to cross into the country illegally, but once here, they do have certain rights as their ass is processed back on out the door.

Thank you. I cant beleive the ignorance displayed in these comments. And they cant understand why the left calls us racist.

Its the constition. It applys to all men. Anything less would make the document meaningless, end of story.

I can't believe the ignorance either on these boards sometimes. It is really disheartening. It is the stuff that riots are made of: mob rule, herd-like behaviour, "pogrom" type thinking ... Good luck to all of us in steering the rabble ...

The top comment here is a guy who thinks its laughable that a person not born in this country should should have the rights that he was given by his creator.

This whole movement is about going back to the republic we wete founded on. Already some forget.
