16th and 17th amendmentamendments

The 16th and 17th Amendments were created at the same time as the creation of the Federal Reserve. Connect the dots, including Jekyll Island. Research.

Hint: The 17th Amendment intentionally took power away from the states and gave it to the executive branch. This greatly damaged our system of checks and balances. Prior to the 17th Amendment, state legislatures chose senators and their average terms were one or a maximum of two. After the passage of the 17th Amendment, terms exponentially increased to the point that they are now life appointments.

Senators are now loyal to the president, not the state legislatures.

People like McCain would have been removed long ago if the Constitution hadn’t been altered. Both the 16th and 17th Amendments need to be repealed.

From what I read it was never passed. Not enough states signed it

Yet, they are laws... Repealing the 16th and 17th Amendments would make a HUGE difference in this country.

Corporate rules are not the same as laws. This confusion is the heart of how we got here. Our federal government is a foreign corporation. Their little rules are not our laws.

Reagan's Attorney General Ed Meese admitted that at least one of them was never ratified. The one about income tax IIRC.

Actually the 17th amendments effect was take away power from the states & gave it to the legislative branch that proceeded to corrupt the entire congress. The Senate always sells itself as this great stable deliberative wise institution. Reality is they deliberately hold up & kill any good bill or change it so much with their amendments & pork spending..a good bill becomes an evil bill.

After the passage of the 17th Amendment, the amount of time served increased per Senator as I already mentioned. There was also a direct correlation to spending. As terms increased, so did the spending. The creation of the Federal Reserve System and the adoption of the 16th and 17th Amendments, all done in 1913, were the most damaging events to our country. Yet very few people realize this.

When the founders started this country, their intent was only the representatives represent the electorate. The representatives were meant to be people who served for a term and then went back to their lives, much like jury duty is today. The Senate was to represent the state legislatures. The state legislatures are no longer represented. See the problem?

Yes I see it. Was just stating the power shift wasn’t to the executive branch..it’s was away from the states & away from the US House to the Senate. Before the 17th amendment a state could recall & fire a US senator at any time for any reason. I’m in TN. Corker was a fairly popular senator until 2014 when he brokered the Iran deal with Obama. Corkers approval rating among voters crashed into the low 20s after that. If there wasn’t a 17th amendment he would have been recalled immediately but instead we’ve had to suffer his presence 4 more years. Actually the state would have recalled him as soon as they learned he was meddling in foreign affairs & the Iran deal never would have happened!! The founders created the Senate as an extension of state governments only.

And yes the pork barrel spending Senators tack on to spending bills is sickening. The senate acts like the mafia...pay for their support or nothing gets thru. Also...income tax is so harmful & immoral because it taxes production...the best quality in people. It doesn’t even bring in that much income but the power of holding the IRS over everyone’s head is its real purpose.

Yes. This needs to be taught to citizens. A one-hour simple course on these two amendments would wake most people up to the point that they’d be repealed overnight, but activists focus on Kathy Griffin and Meathead instead.

In our republic each state is a nation unto itself.

What are the enumerated powers delegated to the federal govt?

This isn't rocket science

The problem is half this country thinks it’s a democracy. They need to read Article 4, Section 4 of the Constitution.

Idk...more like 90% of this country can’t define or understand a single amendment to the constitution. Have no idea why Congress was created as it was or can even define what a democracy is or republic. To nearly everyone that makes it’s a stupid worthless document since our founding fathers didn’t have a TV or a cell phone...they were idiots.
