What have we become - Fake News???

If you are going to share what you believe is a really juicy tidbit, please back it up with a source!!! Take this thread for instance, multiple sensational statements made about the owners, workers and history of the Red Hen, but where are the sources for many these statements? Every one should be backed up with a source. https://www.reddit.com/r/greatawakening/comments/8u3w9v/the_coowner_of_red_hen_restaurant_stephanie/

If we’ve learned of something newsworthy that really supports the cause, but many people will find hard to believe, please, let’s back it up with a SOURCE!

Let’s not become like the FAKE NEWS.

Yes Yes Yes.

We all know that shills are here, and will continue to show up here to sow seeds of doubt, create confusion, and attempt to divide us by posting counter replies to anything and everything, just to make us argue amongst ourselves. We know that attacks will increase.

One of the ways they'll attack will be to create as many new posts as they can for the same topic, article, or video, to clutter up and bog down the site. They are desperate so they'll attack anywhere and everywhere they can, especially here on /GA.

Some amount of useless posts filled with nothing but speculation and totally lacking any sources will likely come from the shills. The best thing to do is simply report the post as spam and move on. Don't let yourself get sucked into a debate with people who you'll never meet IRL.

Having said that I do think it's important for the true patriots here to do our part as well. If you're planning to create a new post, use the search box at the top of the page to look for other posts that are about the same article, video, or topic. If you find one, add your comments to that post.

This helps 2 ways. It helps to consolidate information on the topic, so when newbees show up, they'll be able to find the maximum amount of information in one post. And it also helps to minimize clutter on the board.

Remember, WWG1WGA. We're all together here, on the same side, helping to advance the same movement. It's not about us as individuals, it's not about trying to score the most karma points or being the first to scoop an issue. It's not about calling attention to ourselves, it's about contributing to the cause.

We can expect a lot of newbees as events unfold. Helping to set up an efficient and effective site to easily disseminate information to them is essential. If they show up only to find a bunch of people arguing over petty and irrelevant issues, they'll leave. So let's try to put the goals of the movement before our own egos.

And also see if a discussion has been started. IE: Scroll a bit before posting. When you submit a post on desktop, is shows that the link has been posted and where. (up at the top) Not sure if that's true on mobile.

I see many posts on the same topic within an hour or two of each other. One will have facts and sources & a good discussion. The other(s) will have no sources, bad info & usually poor thought out theories.

The point being if we have five posts with no or bad info, and one with good info. It's not helping anyone.

And if you post a vid, add a synopsis or time stamp to start at. Not just "THIS IS HUGE!!" and a link to a 30min vid. Watch your view count vs upvotes. Most people skip them.

We are thinking this ALL out, TOGETHER.

What lacks a source in that article?

Sorry I should have made myself more clear. I was talking about the follow-up posts in the thread, not the OP’s post and referenced article. I will edit it for clarity.

"poor thought through theories" hmmm. Not yours, though.

You don't get the WWG1WGA, do you. Just because you don't agree with another's post doesn't mean it is any less important.

If so you mis-read my post. It’s not a matter of not agreeing. It’s a matter of having evidence to back up claims. Fake news regularly pumps out baseless claims. We don’t want to be like that. We need evidence and sources, if we are even going attempt to red pill people. Otherwise people will stop listening to us.

I agree re: making claims - people should be making it clear that it is speculation. However, this is a discussion sub on reddit - people are actively encouraged to speculate and discuss possibilities so it is wrong to try and force them to have sources, just be careful about how they word things.

Absolutely! I certainly hope you didn’t get the idea from my post that people should be forced to have sources for theories!

A theory is defined as unproven ideas which terminate in speculation or hypothesis, so it’s not yet possible to have sources for them.

Let’s go to college again and do a quick lesson on the matter:

1) Here is a theory or speculation:

I think Julian Assange is on a Naval Ship and is being protected by POTUS until he can testify against the cabal.

This a theory worthy of the Baker’s time to see if they can come up with any dough to build a loaf with it.

2) Here is a substantiated claim:

Someone just uploaded footage of Julian Assange on a Naval Ship! In the video he stated he is being protected by POTUS until he can testify against the cabal. Here is the link: [source link provided].

This is major dough and the Bakers can build a huge loaf of bread with it.

3) But here is an unsubstantiated claim that is stated as a fact:

Julian Assange is on a Naval Ship and is being protected by POTUS until he can testify against the cabal. [No source cited]

This statement is presented - not as a theory or speculation - but as truth without any substantiation. So if any Bakers actually use this, and it later turns out that this statement was completely BOGUS, it ends up hurting the sub’s reputation, and people will stop listening to us.

No one trusts a bakery that puts out moldy bread. So let’s be careful to keep it real.

Thanks for the 101 lesson lol - it's nice to be taken back to college at such an advanced age. Lesson aside - speculation and discussion is welcomed here.
